Passion and belief.
Combining your passion and belief is your rocket fuel for massive success.
I should know.
It was my passion and belief that had me launch my EdTech startup that later sold for 9-figures.
Yes, you read that right. I had a 9-figure exit.
On paper, the only exit I should have had was out the door.
With no money, experience, or team I was a failure waiting to happen, according to the so-called experts.
But as usual, the so-called experts are wrong.
If you’re frustrated and exhausted from chasing after success, I have great news for you.
When you learn how to combine your passion and belief, the future is yours for the asking.
How do you both combine and master your passion and belief, you ask?
Keep on reading to find out.
Passion And Belief Tip #1: How To Find Your Passion
Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things. – Denis Diderot
Before we do a deep dive on finding your passion, it’s important you know one thing.
Passion on its own is not enough.
Let me say that one more time.
Passion on its own is not enough.
Your passion is the starting point.
The magic happens only at the intersection of passion and belief.
To find your passion, ask yourself these three questions:
- What are you good at?
- If you had all the money in the world, what would you do?
- What activity or task leaves you energized and excited?
Could finding your passion, you ask, be this easy?
Knowing the right questions to ask will get you the answers you need to succeed and prosper.
My EdTech had me combine my passion for technology, education, and helping people.
Each passion on its own is too general. Even when combined, all three passions don’t get you far.
But knowing your passion is key.
Passion And Belief Tip #2: Find A Problem You’re Passionate To Solve
Problems are only opportunities in work clothes – Henri Kaiser
Want did every billionaire do before becoming a billionaire?
Billionaires found a painful problem they were passionate to solve.
Case in point, Netflix.
Netflix eliminated wasting time driving to the video store and late fees.
Netflix cemented its success with movie streaming as the ultimate in convenience.
How do you find a painful problem?
Your passion is your guide.

Your three questions to thrive are:
- What is your biggest frustration?
- Do many other people share the same frustration?
- Is this frustration painful enough that people will pay you to take away their pain?
And when it comes to entrepreneurs solving problems, entrepreneur and thought leader Martin Zwilling pens a great article. Zwilling’s article reveals insights on how to develop your problem-solving ability. Read it now and you’ll thank me later.
My 9-figure exit, Embanet, was born out of my frustration of meeting too much with my MBA group.
I solved the problem by putting my group online so we could work from anywhere at any time.
Today this sounds simple. But back ‘in the day,’ the Internet was not mainstream.
Over the years Embanet changed with the times. But what didn’t change was the desire to help people solve their painful problems.
The motto for Embanet, ‘pain relief for your eLearning headaches,’ says it all.
My 9-figure exit was born out of combining my passion and belief.
And it was my passion and belief that overcome me not having money, experience, or a team.
Passion And Belief Tip #3: Believe In Yourself (Always)
Let your passion and belief be your north star for a life of happiness and success.
To be a champ you have to believe in yourself when no one else will. – Sugar Ray Robinson
What are your three favorite products or services?
Know that it took the passion and belief of an entrepreneur to introduce the idea to the world.
Why is this important?
Successful entrepreneurs encounter people who say they are wrong and will fail.
So will you.
In creating my 9-figure exit I discovered three universal truths:
- The experts are wrong
- Conventional wisdom isn’t wise
- For an entrepreneur, the spelling of ‘impossible’ is ‘I’m Possible.’
As for your friends and family. Forget about it.
Friends and family mean well, but they either aren’t qualified or don’t want you to succeed.
Keep your goals, dreams, and vision to yourself or a trusted and qualified mentor.
I took great satisfaction in proving the so-called experts wrong. All day. Every day.
The so-called experts claimed nobody would take courses online. It was the same so-called experts who said this ‘Internet’ thing is a fad.
According to conventional wisdom, I was crazy for turning down a corporate gig out of my MBA program.
Conventional wisdom said to quit my startup, Embanet, and get a j.o.b.
My 9-figure exit speaks to ‘impossible’ being spelled as ‘I’m Possible’ for entrepreneurs.
Was it easy?
Not a chance.
And this is why combining your passion and belief unlocks your gateway to success.
Passion And Belief Tip #4: Stay Positive (No Matter What)
Your passion and belief is like a life jacket that keeps you afloat by keeping your positive.
The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible. – Winston Churchill
Is this easy?
Why bother, you ask?
Passion and belief help get you through so-called failure with optimism and hope.
When I launched my EdTech, failure became my new best friend. And this wasn’t by choice.
But in my mind, failure didn’t exist. Instead, I viewed each set back as knowing what doesn’t work.
I learned how to transform failure into success.
And in building a 9-figure business, knowing what not to do is often more important than knowing what to do.
My passion and belief kept me positive to have the courage to take on what seemed impossible.
And it was my passion and belief that transformed the impossible into I’m Possible.
Could I have done this with a negative outlook?
Not a chance.
Let me be clear.
Don’t think for a moment that you can be positive and everything works out.
Unless you channel your positive beliefs into action, you’re a dreamer.
Passion and belief keep you positive and springs you into action to achieve success.
Afterall, a positive attitude without action makes you a dreamer.
And in this game called life dreamers fail and doers win.
Passion And Belief Tip #5: Sell Your Way To Success Without Ever Selling
You sell more when you stop selling. – David Meerman Scott
To change lives, help people, and build your empire you need to ‘sell’ people on your idea.
But I can’t sell, you say.
It’s your passion and belief that has you sell without ever selling.
Don’t believe me?
Think back to the last time you had a great meal at a wonderful restaurant.
You told your family. You told your friends.
Heck, you told anyone who would listen.
And what happened?
Some of your friends and family went to your favorite restaurant.
Your passion and belief had you educate those around you on a great restaurant.
Selling is simply transferring your passion to others through education.
That’s how I built my 9-figure business.
And so can you.
eBay, Trip Advisor, and Amazon did.
The new economy is the trust economy driven by the masses, not companies.
You’ll buy a product after hearing or reading positive reviews from other people.
The passion and belief of the people writing the reviews educate you on how the product can help you.
Sell your way to success without ever selling through your passion and belief.
Influencer, thought leader, and marketing guy Steve Olenski pens a great article on how to educate your target market. Olesnki is right on the money with his sage advice.
If your serious about success, Olenski’s article is a must-read.
Passion And Belief Tip #6: Build Your Tribe And You Build Your Empire
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. – Jim Rohn
Whether you know it or not, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
Hence these three sayings. Birds of a feather flock together, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and great minds think alike.
Let your passion and belief be your magnet to build your tribe with people who are doers and who believe in you.Click to tweet
So should you.
When I launched my EdTech, what kept me up at night was not knowing what I didn’t know.
To shed light on my blind spots, I searched for successful people who could become my mentor.
And when it comes to mentors, all you need is one.
My passion and belief became my north star to find a mastermind group of like-minded people.
In my mastermind group, I was the youngest and most inexperienced.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I internalized the wisdom and experience of my mastermind group.
In exchange, my mastermind group fed off my passion and belief.
Want to become rich and successful? Find people who already are rich and successful and do what they do.
By building your tribe with successful people, you internalize their success habits.
And before you know it, you’re well on your way to success.
Passion And Belief Tip #7: Talk Through Your Actions, Not Your Words
Your actions speak so loudly, I can not hear what you are saying – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Passion and belief spring you into action to solve peoples’ problems and to build your empire.Click to tweet
In my over two years of in-the-trenches experience, I’ve seen two kinds of people.
Most people talk a big talk. Grandiose plans. Big dreams. And a lot of hot air.
A select few people don’t say much at all.
These people talk so loudly through their actions that you can’t hear what they’re saying.
Let your passion and belief focus you on taking action.
Talking through your actions is the mindset of rich and successful people.
But whatever you do, don’t confuse activity with progress.
My 9-figure exit resulted from doing the right activities even if I didn’t want to do this.
My passion and belief got me through the boredom, challenges, and mental pain of doing what needed to be done.
If I did not have my passion and belief, I wouldn’t have done those activities.
And I would have failed.
So will you.
Unless you lock in your passion and belief and show the world through your actions, not your words.
Are you frustrated and exhausted from not getting the results you want?
Are you wondering if it’s even possible to be both happy and successful?
If you are, I have great news for you.
When you combine your passion and belief, the future is yours for the asking.
I should know.
I was that kid who launched his company right out of school with no money, experience, or team.
Despite the odds, I created a 9-figure exit when I sold my company.
My passion and belief that paved the way.
And if I can do it, so can you.
Where do you start, you ask?
You start by simplifying your life for success.
Believe it or not, success is easy.
If you know what to do and when to do it.
Start right now.
Go back to the beginning of my article and master the first principle.
Do this for all seven principles.
Along the way, you’ll lock in your passion and belief and position yourself for success.
Lots of it.
Know this, my dear reader, and know this well.
You already have within in you everything you need to be happy and successful.
Your passion and belief may be all that’s missing to unleash your personal power.
And when you do, you’ll change lives for the better and build your empire.
I know you can do it.
And you will.
Here’s to you and your success!
